CAN YOU FEEL IT? A solo work by John, starting in the mid-90’s using an 8-track tape deck, eventually migrating to a digital recording system in the late 90’s. These tracks are John’s first attempt at composing, engineering and mastering. The picture was taken off the front porch of his Cobden, IL farm in 1972, an area notorious for incredible storms. The energy was palpable as the sun poked through the clouds in front of the advancing wall cloud. All tracks were 1st takes and are free form - no real structure other than to start with a drum track/groove and go for it. This is what happens when a hobby gets completely out of control ...

Pieces of John’s Collection 1968-2005 This is a sampling of some material John collected working with some of the masters of this art, particularly Mitchell Rhodes, Billy Shaw, Drae Hobbs, from the 60’s, some from the early 70’s on the farm. Also included is some more recent material including some tracks with Zachary Wallerich, John’s son, playing tenor sax as early as 15 years old. And Super Bad Party Ring, done in 1984 on a $200 4-track cassette deck in 2 hours with the amazing Panfish Johnson.

1010 BALLOON ACTIVITIES GROUP (early 1960’s) Recordings from The 1010 B.A.G., circa 1967. This band played on a racing yacht in the 1967 Columbus Day Boat Parade in front of Mayor Daley and Hubert Humphrey, playing “Sunshine of Your Love”. Hunter Thompson, who was there, observed that Humphrey looked like he had died 2 years earlier, and Daley looking “like a potato with mange”. Also included are recording sessions from Terry Brummel’s basement, circa 1966. Recordings are in horrible shape .. only the truly faithful will enjoy them. I tried to do what I could to digitally enhance them ....
